Project abstract

The overall objective of this project is to develop and use special low cost integrated technology to realize narrow band spectral filters in order to separate the different information channels travelling over the access fibre link (as separate filters and as part of a DeMUX module applied in WDM PON). Another objective of this technology is to realize low cost optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) to monitor quality of access network links. Therefore, this project significantly contributes to the deployment of low cost access networks as well as minimizing the operational cost by constant cost-effective monitoring of data signals quality.

In this project we propose a simple and cost effective method of realizing an OSA to be used for such monitoring purposes while due to its significantly low price and its very high spectral resolution it may perfectly fit as an essential component of future photonic high speed access networks.
